Dilexi Te is Pope Leo XIV's first apostolic exhortation, building upon Pope Francis' fourth encyclical, Dilexit Nos. This exhortation is an invitation to contemplate Christ’s love, that we may be inspired to become attentive to the suffering and needs of others, and to share in the work of liberation that flows from his love (no. 2).

  • Lumen Gentium

Lumen Gentium, or "Light of the Nations," is a key document from the Second Vatican Council that describes the Catholic Church as a "People of God" and the "Mystical Body of Christ". It emphasizes the universal call to holiness for all baptized individuals, the active role of the laity in the Church's mission through engaging in worldly affairs, and the Church as a visible, hierarchical structure that is also a mystery, a pilgrim people on a journey.

Magnifica Humanitas (“Magnificent Humanity”) is the first encyclical of Pope Leo XIV, focused on safeguarding human dignity in the age of artificial intelligence. • Renewing the Vision

Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry, approved as a statement of the United States bishops in June 1997, builds upon the tradition begun by the 1976 document by the bishops, A Vision of Youth Ministry. To respond to the challenges and opportunities of the present age, the Catholic bishops of the United States have given the Church this pastoral framework as a blueprint for the continued development of effective ministry with youth and adolescents in local communities of faith.

  • Listen Teach Send

This framework, approved by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in June 2024, gives guidance for the Catholic Church in accompanying and evangelizing young people: youth (in junior high and high school) and young adults (in their late teens, 20s, and 30s). The methodology is rooted in the Gospel story of the road to Emmaus (Lk 24:13-35) and invites pastoral leaders and families, in their engagement with young people, to imitate Jesus who listens attentively, teaches from the heart, and sends disciples into the world.

  • Create in Me a Pure Heart

Within our culture, pornography is often viewed as acceptable and harmless while the truth is quite the opposite. An offense against chastity and human dignity, pornography causes immense pain for people of all ages, particularly within marriage and family relationships.

Create in Me a Pure Heart: A Pastoral Response to Pornography seeks to raise awareness about the pervasiveness and harm of pornography. It offers a robust vision to help Catholics heal from the negative effects of pornography and to protect young people from its dangers.

Forms and Waivers

  • Handbook on Risk Management when working with Middle and High School Youth

  • For events with minors: These forms are an example on how a parish might communicate expected behavior and guidelines (and any consequences) to youth and parents for ministry events.  These are samples only, and should be modified per event and parish.  Youth Ministry leaders may build a Code of Conduct into the Travel Release Form to reduce the number of forms a parent needs to sign and request parents to discuss the guidelines with their minor child, rather than the child signing the form.

    Adult Sample

  • These off-site travel forms contain event specific details and any mode of travel. The forms contain liability and medical release/consent. The forms may be kept by the group leader or with the person throughout the event. It is recommended to use these for each off-site event for minors.  Young Adult ministries may want to modify an adult form for high-risk events, like sports or foreign travel.
